Frequently Asked Questions
What is Home Health Care ...
As the name implies, it is the ability to provide services in the patient's home. Patients benefit by alleviating the need for extended stays in a hospital or nursing home. People are often amazed at the number of services that can be performed in the home. We can send nurses, nursing assistants, homemakers and companions in the home. We also have respite care to allow caregivers a well deserved break.
Isn't Home Health just for seniors ....
First of all, Family Life Care is more than just a "home" health care provider. Actually, we are a health care provider but often people needing our services look under "home health care" for resources. There is no age range for clients, senior citizens are the greater portion or our patients, but many people who need assistance get home care at any age for themselves, grandparents, infants. It all depends on your needs.
How is cost determined ... and who pays ...
Good question! Cost is based on the type and frequency of services you need. Our Care Managers will assist you and your family in planning what care is appropriate for you. Care may be covered by your insurance or Medicaid waiver (if you qualify). Most long term care insurance plans cover the cost of home care. However, each plan may have certain conditions or criteria that must be met in order to quality. When these sources are not available, private pay will be accepted.
Who will provide my care ... and are they qualified ...
We staff Professional Care Managers, RNs/LPNs, Personal Care Attendants, Certified Nurse Aides, Companions and Homemakers. We can also arrange home and lawn service. All of our staff have successfully completed their appropriate licensing, certifications, background and work references, and have been finger printed as required by the state. Our staff members have a complete criminal background check and attend continuing educational classes.
What happens if my caregiver is sick ...
That is why we employ a team approach. If one caregiver is sick another caregiver is normally available.
